Week 4- Honoree Week
Just realized I never hit send on here… Oops!!
Sunday- Decided to sleep in (sorry guys) and skip the “not-so on your own” run. I did a late morning 10K with Lady Gaga and Daft Punk. Felt pretty good and my time had improved without feeling like I was pushing it.
Monday- Swimming for 45 minutes is a lot more tiring than one might think. I could barely walk after.
Tuesday- Track workout with time trial. It was HOTT! I tried to focus on my cadence and keeping a steady pace (which i’m positive is why I always have hip flexor problems) and finished my 3 miles in 26.50. Honoree Todd chatted afterwards (picture below)
Wednesday- Spin class, lots of sprints on the bike and the usual abs and arms… getting better with the planks, but still have to go down to my knees for the pushups on the bosu ball.
Thursday- Traffic kept me from the buddy run :( So, I opted to give my legs a break and went for a swim instead- even Jeff joined me!!!
Friday- Rest rest rest rest rest…. ice ice ice ice
Saturday- 8 miles on the Los Alamitos trail…. the heat was pretty intense… I ran the first 4 miles non-stop, and was struggling with the usual hip and shin pain, so at the suggestion of Gabby, I joined her on a 5-1 run/walk. I must say, as someone who normally takes pride in being able to run without breaking for relatively long distances, I had scoffed a bit at the benefits of run/walk. I always feel like if I were to walk, that I’ll feel every pain when I try to start up running again. By keeping both times relatively short, I didn’t experience that at all. In fact, I felt pretty amazing after the run and have had much less pain in my hips and shins. Plus- I finished faster than I would have if I had ran the whole thing. I’m a convert. Now I just need to get a watch that has an interval timer.
