Week 3: Injury and Recovery.

Sunday- Run at Hellyer park- first time I’ve ever been there and it’s a beautiful run in South San Jose. Completed 7 miles at a “strong and steady” pace. Afterwards, we had delicious waffles courtesy of Coach Steve! Loved his dog “Reebok!!”

Monday- OKAY… sooooo uhhhhhh yah, I moved shifted my rest days and iced my hip flexors. Tuesday- Migraine really put me under, so I had to miss track workout. Instead, I did a short 35 minutes on the elliptical and leg weights.

Wednesday- Great spin and ab/arm class with Courtney at Vivre- if you ever want to feel like you’re totally out of shape, go to one of her classes. Still unable to get through the bosu-plank set, but was able to hold for the first minute at least. :)

Thursday- Buddy run at Guadalupe trail… 4.5 miles! Friday- Much needed rest day… ice ice ice ice ice…. Saturday- Intervals on the treadmill- 1 mile warmup starting at 6.0 and working up to 6.7mph and 2% incline. Then 1/4 mile intervals- 2 @ 8.0mph 2 @ 8.5mph and 1 @ 9.0mph then… uh oh…. pain pain pain. Both my hip flexors and my shins were burning, so I walked a bit and stopped stretch and do some light arm work. This week, I really tried to (more than usual) make sure I was eating what I should be. I thought about keeping a food diary on here as well as my workout, but that would even more boring :) I’ll say one thing, it’s SUPER hard to go to Santa Cruz and just eat an apple when there are delicious funnel cakes and ice cream all around. I did make brownie-york patty cupcakes though, pretty awesome. I was testing a recipe for bake sales to come.
