New Obsession
I have a new obsession thanks to one of my fave blogs Bakerella: http://www.bakeitpretty.com/ I was inspired last night by some interesting pairings at Kyotofu such as green tea creme brulee with lychee sorbet with green tea paste, it got me thinking about two things: 1. All the delicious flavors that could be combined with creme brulee, which is definitely one of my all time favorite desserts. I...
Welcome...
So, I figure I write about one of my passions, running and fitness, and I figure I should show you the OTHER side…. how I replenish those calories burned. :) I *plan* to use this blog to post pictures of my cupcakes, cookies and anything else delicious that comes out of my kitchen (once I finally get moved into my new apartment). To start, here’s a gallery of a few of my past...

BRICK is my new favorite workout.
A site called Groupon had a $35 one month membership to Club One where I could go to any of their clubs in Silicon Valley, and I’ve taken advantage of this to get back into spin and swimming and generally improve my fitness. As is obvious by the title of this blog, I like to run. That’s an understatement; I love to run. I love the feeling of pavement, grass, dirt, sand, rubber...
Goodbye Running Shoes
It’s that time of the year, it’s time to retire my running shoes (THE running shoes I ran a marathon in) and get new ones. Letting go, and recycling shoes. I’m about to move back to NYC and in doing so, have spent some time sorting and cleaning out my closet. Now, I’m no pack rat, but I have a sentimental connection to running shoes, the miles logged in each shoe...
It's been awhile...
I’ve recently been ramping back up into my training after a few months of running only once a week while letting my achilles rest… and thought I should get back into writing in this blog….and then realized…. I NEVER POSTED MY MARATHON FOLLOW UP. GASP! So here it is… Oct. 18th 2009 So first and foremost THANK YOU to everyone who supported me in my marathon. It...

Tendinitis, ITB, Nausea! OH MONTEREY!
So this last weekend, I completed my LAST LONG TRAINING RUN! I say completed very loosely… Friday I finally made it to the podiatrist to have my foot checked out and she said I had tendinitis and need to rest, but I basically told her “HA, maybe in a month” Saturday morning was our 20 mile run in Pacific Grove- it was a beautiful run and I felt strong for the first 12 miles...

Why I run:
THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED! I’m over halfway to my goal with 1 week to go, which means I need *you* to donate (if you haven’t) and pass it along to your friends! It’s hard not to get caught up in the physical/mental barriers I have to overcome to run 26.2 miles, but keeping in touch with why we’re running is what keeps me going through this...
18 Miles!
As I mentioned before, from here on out, it’s nothing but record distances… Yesterday, despite some pain in my knee from my IT band, I completed 18 miles and I think we did it in about 3 hours, but I didn’t keep track. The run was our “race course preview” essentially running the second half of the race course, starting at Lake Merced, running up the Great Highway...
From our weekly update:
“I never advise running the full 26.2 miles during training [for a marathon]. If you had to run across a bed of hot coals, would you train for it over and over again?” ~ Bill Dellinger, Olympian and former University of Oregon track coach I’m mentally preparing myself for 18 miles on Saturday… Physically preparing by drinking water, icing, and cutting back on the...
So I've been lacking in my updates....
But I haven’t given up… and I still need your support!!!If you haven’t yet donated to the cause, the time is NOW, my fundraising deadline is October 1st!!!! (even though my marathon is the 18th) http://pages.teamintraining.org/sj/nikesf09/bmorrowcrdSome milestones since my birthday run… NEW SHOES… Okay, so that’s not a milestone, but I was having a LOT of pain,...

My birthday! Waddell Creek Run!
Photo entering the Santa Cruz mountains- 15 miles of twisty driving to get to the beach. Yay, highway 1!!! Nice place to be a farmer… To my right (dirty windows) and a lovely hilly terrain To my left, beautiful ocean cliffs This was actually really amazing when I was driving slightly above the fog for about a mile… Starting point for the run- I should have taken a...
Vacation, Jeff's Recovery, Recommitment.
The last few weeks have been hectic to say the least. It started with my “vacation” back to the midwest where I was attending two of my best friends’ weddings. One was in Indianapolis on the 11th and one just outside Cleveland on the 18th. For the sake of the champagne toasts, I broke my sober summer training, but kept my alcohol intake to a minimum and kept myself as hydrated...

Week 5- Happy Fourth of July
Sunday- Still feeling good after 8 miles on Saturday. Run/Walk convert for sure!!! :) Monday- 30 minutes on the elliptical, stretching, core, and arms (yawwwwwwnnnnnn) Jeff bought EA Active for the Wii, which is supposedly much better than Wii Fit because the workouts are more intense. Eventually I’m going to try out for my Monday cross training. It totally kicked his butt though :) ...
My daily 3:
Veggie juice (though I prefer the high sodium V8…mmm electrolytes) Water, and lots of it. Iced americano… And lots of it :) Sent from my iPhone Posted via email from Becky Runs | Comment »
Week 4- Honoree Week
Just realized I never hit send on here… Oops!! Sunday- Decided to sleep in (sorry guys) and skip the “not-so on your own” run. I did a late morning 10K with Lady Gaga and Daft Punk. Felt pretty good and my time had improved without feeling like I was pushing it. Monday- Swimming for 45 minutes is a lot more tiring than one might think. I could barely walk after. Tuesday-...

Week 3: Injury and Recovery.
Sunday- Run at Hellyer park- first time I’ve ever been there and it’s a beautiful run in South San Jose. Completed 7 miles at a “strong and steady” pace. Afterwards, we had delicious waffles courtesy of Coach Steve! Loved his dog “Reebok!!” Monday- OKAY… sooooo uhhhhhh yah, I moved shifted my rest days and iced my hip flexors. Tuesday- Migraine really...

The Cause
In our manager’s update this week, Simone had this breakdown of the costs of cancer. As I begin to ramp up my fundraising, I thought it would make sense to give a bit of perspective. THE CAUSE When I read how much it costs for an average night stay at Children’s Hospital, it got me thinking about the money that has been spent throughout the year: What Does It Cost To Have One Of These...
